It is an implementation and development project and its core lies in the use of the current internet and video technologies. Through the use of digital tools driving instructor candidates and their trainers can integrate time stamp based text and drawing comments in their driving videos, visible to all persons involved. This technical innovation reveals diverse educational potentials on individual and organizational levels. Central are the promotion of self-reflection as well as teaching competence, the support of feedback between teachers and learners and an international collaboration in terms of quality development. First results show a high acceptance of the approach from driving instructor candidates and their trainers – despite the different contextual conditions in the countries. Challenges lie in the provision of an adequate technical infrastructure (DSL bandwidth) and in the educational competence of the trainer to coordinate the content of the videos, the instructions for At first the corresponding development and research project is presented. Afterwards we think about theories which enable us to analyze the development of driving competence under the perspective of situated learning. For that purpose some general aspects of situated learning as well as possibilities for its media-based support will be compiled and explained. With regard to practice we will then provide first concepts for instruction and further education: We report on learning scenarios for the student driver as well as the driving instructor. Moreover we will show which links to the current web 2.0-discussion arise within the project. Finally some challenges for research come up. Storytelling is especially effective when experience (know-how) should be shared and experienced-supported action should be facilitated. In turn, experience plays a key role in dealing with unpredictable situations which become increasingly complex. In addition to this discussion about unplanned situations and the importance of experience, this article offers a review of different forms and functions of narrating in organizations. The article shows that narrating and listening represent special efforts of coordination and that an open culture of narrating promises human and economic advantages.
